Address & Directions

301 Cummings Drive
Brunswick, MD

Race operations and the infield will be located at the 301 Cummings Drive Brunswick, MD. Our amazing parking volunteer crew will guide you into the event and get you safely to parking or a managed drop off area. Parking will be on pavement - but we have a limited amount and need to be efficient. Look for our volunteers to guide you!

Course Description

The Rivers Edge Trails in Brunswick, MD was the first trail system developed in Maryland specifically with NICA in mind! The infield rests in a “bowl” between Brunswick High School and Bunswick Middle School, giving the event a strong scholastic sport feel. The race lap starts across some open fields, then hops onto the high school cross country training route. Riders quickly transition into the woods and onto some brand new connecting trails, before they pop out and catch one more glimpse of the infield during the lap. From here, riders will navigate a PINWHEEL similar to last year, work their way around the middle school building, and head into the Rivers Edge Trail system at the 1 mile mark. Once into the trails, MICL student-athletes will experience a challenging but highly rewarding 1.8 more miles of singletrack trail, with good sight lines, sections built to accommodate safe passing, and some switchback climbs and descents. There is a final 120’ climb back up to the venue where racers will be welcomed back from the lap. Accessible spectator points abound at this venue as well! See our interactive map for several suggested viewing points.

The course will be open for pre-ride Saturday afternoon (2:30 - 5 p.m.) and Sunday morning (8 - 9 a.m.). We strongly recommend that all racers pre-ride the course and bring a map, plenty of water, cell phone and not ride alone. Please pass course workers with great care and stay off the course outside of the above times. ALL riders on course are required to have a MICL Race Plate, including adults.

Adventure Program

The MICL Adventure program presented by Salsa Cycles will be at this event. Expect an adventure skills area that is clearly marked and available for student-athletes to use all weekend. We will invite coaches onto this course on Saturday at 4:30 pm to test their skills in an informal coaches competition against the clock!

GRit Program

The MICL GRiT program presented by Joes Bike Shop will have programming at all MICL events this year. The GRiT area will be a gathering space for all student-athletes and will be particularly welcoming to our new and returning female participants. Learn more about GRiT programming for this event here.

Try It Out Program

The MICL Try It Out program presented by Race Pace Bicycles will be at all pre-rides this year. It will allow new & beginner students to “try it out” with a sweet new bike, riding on our marked course with other students and coaches! Check in at our registration tent to learn how you or a friend can try out mountain biking on one of our courses.
